7/21/08: Okay, I haven't been here since I returned to Oklahoma due to a horrible internet connection. I have worked in a trip to an internet cafe in light of an emergency: The forums died completely, and boomp hasn't managed to fix it. I have set up a new forum with someone else, and though i don't have time to set it up completely just now, it'll have to do for the time being. I'll finish customizing it and setting up the various areas and transfering over important posts as soon as I get back to Santa Barbara. Thank you all for your patience, Keemonto 5/20/08: Well, due to an impromptu system restore I haven't actually progressed in the demo at all this past week; I have, however, nearly caught up with where I was prior to the system restore. Alas, prospects for any real progress in this coming week are just about nil; Fanime is rapidly approaching, and it spans from this Friday through this upcoming Monday. For those of you who are intersted, Fanime is an anime convention which takes place every year in San Jose during Memorial Day weekend. For the past three years I have been attending the convention with Chu; if any of you happen to be attending, and would like to meet me, you can find me loitering at Chu's booth in artist alley, managing sells and wearing my Buwaro hat. 05/14/08: I know I'm a day late, but I've been otherwise occupied. The diaog pool is done and so are Aquwin's sprites; the lot of it has been uploaded. I haven't started any new projects withing the code for Demon gate, but I'm working on conceptual work. Hammering out storyline, contemplating new systems, working out culture, and all that jazz. My schedule should free up a little more this weekend, and if it does I'll begin working on Piros again. Fanime is approaching very quickly however, so I may be spending a chunk of this weekend helping Chu make buttons; after all, we do co-run her stand. 05/06/08: Well, I've finished the forum member candy (at least insofar as I'm going to for now), I've gotten most of the dialogue written for my dialogue pool idea (it's basically this system where unimportant NPCs will say random dialogue either from their Realm or from all the Realms; it adds variety and gives you some background to the universe of DG), and I'm re-doing Aquwin's battle sprites; if you don't know who she is, don't worry about it; you'll meet her eventually. Anyway, her battle sprite was the oldest and it was hideous, so it's getting a makeover. The new set is almost done and it looks much better; it's inspired by this picture by Chiyo so all props to her. Other than that I'm holding a poll on the Forums to help determine whether or not I'm going to use a chapter method to tell the story of Demon Gate, so you might want to check that out. (I think you can vote without joining the forums) 04/29/08: I know what the date-stamps say, but I really didn't take a year off. I've just been remiss in updating the site. Okay, so it's come to my attention that some of you guys visit the site looking for updates, but don't check the forums. I'd like to apologize to each and every one of you who this is true for; I didn't know such a population existed. I'm going to start updating the site on a regular basis now (every Tuesday if I can) to keep you guys in the loop. Okay, so a ton has changed since my last update (so much that I don't know what all has changed). Looking over my updates, I can sort of peice it together. THere's a bunch of new dialog and updated dialog. There's a couple new books for you to collect. The story hasn't progressed any, but I would have updated here if it had. The Labyrinth is completely different; it's now a real 25-map long maze with lots of dialog to keep you company. The first ever optional boss is hanging out at the end of the Labyrinth; he's a serious bad-ass, but he's totally beatable. I also instated a class system for Sasha; she has three new classes that customize her playing style and give you some new, badass weapons and shields to play with. I've changed the enemy sprites to something more suitable to the game style, and I've made them drop stuff that you can sell rather than potions and whatnot; the stuff they drop will eventually be used in my crafting system (it's not up and running yet). I've added in a new thieving system whereby the more you steal the better you'll get at it; anyone can now be robbed successfully if you're good enough and with a little luck, but that gain is counterbalanced by the fact that anyone can now catch you stealing from them if you're bad enough and get unlucky. I'm currently working on forum member candy (I'm sorry to all of you who aren't forum members, but they're the most vocal sect and I told them I'd give them something for helping me out with bug hunts and glitches and comments and suggestions and even some music), but I'll get back on to working on Piros (the next world) within a couple of days. We have a new composer, one DusK; he's awesome. He hasn't gotten too far in the soundtrack yet, so don't expect to hear a whole new set, but he's working on it and I'm eternally greatful to him. I think that's about it... its all the major changes I can remember anyway. Even though I'm updating the site again, I still suggest that anyone who's really into the project join the forums. They are privy to all sorts of extra crap that I have going through my head about the world of Demon Gate, there's a quiz which rewards in-game prizes, and there's the aforementioned forum-member candy I'm currently working on. It's really the best way to keep updated on the games progress, as I visit the forums daily when I can. It's also the best way to keep in contact with me, and it gives you a venue to influence elements of the game; the Suggestions thread is always open and I occassionally throw out polls asking peoples opinions on whether I should do something. One last time, I'm sorry for not updating the site more frequently; I'll be better about it from now on. Thanks for playing, and as always thank you for your infinite patience. 07/06/07: Another massive art update, this time featuring new art from Chiyokins and Enky. It's awsome, so go check it out. In other news I have a job now so I have a little bit of time to work on Demon Gate on my off days and on the days when I go into work later than 7 in the morning. I might get a little more lax about website upkeep in the near future, but nderstand that if i do it's because I'm spending my alotted DG time on the game rather than the site. 06/02/07: A huge art update with new art from Enky, Ashaya, and Chris. Check it out! 06/22/07: Even more new art from Chiyokins and a picture of some adoarable "blu-tack" modeys made by our forum regular Chris. There are also ceaseless updates to the demo fixing all sorts of really old bugs that nobody knew about, so don't expect the new sign to be coming off anytime soon. I also expect to have the prize system integrated into the demo sometime this week. For those of you who don't know, I am going to start giving out in-game prizes for correct answers on the Quiz thread under Just for Fun on the forums. There are a lot of neat in-game things available ranked based on the difficulty of the quiz and the usefulness of the item, so be sure to stop by the Quiz thread! 05/19/07: Lots of new art from Chiyokins, Travisuped, Damang, and a new version of the demo is available for download. It IS NOT an extension, just a bunch of fixes/graphical touch-ups. I'm hard at work on new areas, and I thank anyone who's still following this project for their infinite patience. While you wait, why not hit up the forums? It has all of the most up to date information on the game, lots and lots of extra information (try the quiz under Just for Fun or the Questions Section), and a whole community of super friendly psychopaths! You can also make suggestions, which are often included in the game! Have a cutscene you'd like to see in the game? Suggest it! I'd also like to add that if you have a comment or suggestion that you'd like me to respond to, please either e-mail me or ost it on the forums; the guestbook is great, but I frequently forget that it's there for large spans of time and thus it's not the best way to try and contact me. 2/06/07: There's a bunch of new fanart up and there's another fixed version of the demo up; I'm not sure I got everything you guys reported, so if you see an error be sure to report it. 1/23/07: Another new art piece from Chiyokins is up ^_^. 1/22/07: There's a new version of the demo up with more mistakes corrected and a new cutscene. Oh, yes, and the Stoned Man now has his own faceset. See? That's the power of your votes at work. 1/17/07: New Fan Art from Chiyokins ^_^. Of course, I encourage fan art from all of you =P 1/16/07: The boomp people absolutely win! I posted o their technical support forum and it's already fixed! I take back everything bad I ever said about boomp XD 1/16/07: Noooooooooo! The forums have mysteriously died! I'm seeking aide from boomp, but if the problem can't be fixed then I'm going to have to make new forums and we will lose all of the wonderful threads. This being the case, I will do absolutely everything in my power to fix the old forums. I will update again when I have new information. 1/8/07: The new version is finally up. Sorry about the delays; if you don't want to run into any bugs I suggest you wait a day or two until you pick up the demo so that any brave souls and I can go through the demo bug hunting; everything should work, but "should" very seldom amounts to "does". 10/4/06: Perhaps the biggest change in Demon Gate's history has just occured; check the Bios section for more details. You may need to refresh the page to see the changes. Hindsight: Ah Arin. I t apears you just weren't destined for greatness. 10/2/06: Just in case there's anyone who cares I'm back in school, free of work, and thus able to work on Demon Gate again. Sorry I've been gone so long, but I intend to make some major changes to the demo currently playable and then re-release it for an opinion run, so I hope you guys like it ^_^. In addition, I'll be giving the site a little bit of a beautification (not much, but it'll be something), so maybe that'll help. I hope some of you are still around DX. The Art section has been updated with fan art from Travisuped, as well as a mini game created by him, which is a true work of art. Much thanks Travisuped, and keep up the good work XD. 7/25/06: The forums are mysteriously back up, so we'll be sticking with them for the time being. 7/19/06: It's been a while, so I have a bunch of updates. Due to a 51 hour/week job I'm working for the next couple of months, work on Demon Gate has come to a crawl. I'm still working on it; just don't expect anything soon. The demo fix worked, so we're back to one small version of the demo. Finally, the forums are currently down due to issues at boomp, so when I have time I'm going to create forums with a different server. Hindsight: Then I wanted to change forums; now there's too much at stake to lose it all! Edit: And the forums are fixed =D. You may have to refresh the main page to get the new forums. 06/11/06: I am trying a new solution for the demo problem. Hopefully it works. 06/10/06: The website was down today for approximately one hour while I fixed the downloads section. If an error pops up when you try to download the game, it means you need to refresh your browser. There are now two download options. Further explanation is given withing the newly created Downloads section. 06/05/06: I think I finally tracked down and destroyed the vicious problem that has been haunting my demo. The new version is up, and hopefully this time it works =D. 06/03/06 (again): I tracked down, fixed, and thoroughly tested the "Kyle loop." I still can't find anything wrong with the teleportation event in communal in Enliva though... Perhaps it will go away of it's own accord... At any rate, the new version of the demo is up =D. 06/03/06: A new version of the demo is up in response to some of the bugs you have found. I changed a couple other minor things, but none of you will probably notice XD. I don't plan to release another version until I have finished with the next stage of the game (I'm working on chipsets for the fire realm and the thunder realm right now), but I would still apreciate it if you would post about any glitches you find in the demo. I can fix them while I work on the rest of the game. On a side note, I'm going to close down and modify the forums for about one hour, starting as soon as I post this. It seems there is a problem with it letting people register... Thanks for your feedback; I really appreciate it! Hindsight: Hah ha ha, how many versions later am I with no storyline progression? 5/30/06: The updates section of the website is now up =D. Here you will find any information pertaining to the release of new versions of the Demon Gate demo, as well as modifications to the website.
