Information

Ah, the facts about my favorite Pokémon... Raichu.  Raichu is Pocket Monster #26 (#157 in the GBA games), who evolves from Pikachu.  Raichu
is an electric type, meaning that its weak against ground attacks and strong against flying attacks.  An interesting fact is
the electrical mouse has the strongest attack of all electric-type Pokémon in the game (well, actually, it's tied with
Raikou, but it's a legendary Pokémon)!  Anyway, evolution goes like this:

Pichu --(Happiness)--> Pikachu --(Thunderstone)--> Raichu

Pokédex Entries

Red  Blue

Its long tail serves as a ground to protect itself from its own high voltage power.

Yellow

When electricity builds up inside its body, it becomes feisty.  It also glows in the dark.

Gold

When its electricity builds, its muscles are stimulated, and it becomes more aggressive that usual.

Silver

If the electric pouches in its cheeks become fully charged, both ears will stand up straight.

Crystal

If its electric pouches run empty, it raises its tail to gather electricity from the atmosphere.

Ruby

If the electrical sacks become excessively charged, RAICHU plants its tail in the ground and discharges. Scorched patches of ground will be found near this POKEMON's nest. Pokémon Characterstic: Static. There's a 30% chance that your opponent will be paralyzed after attacking Raichu through direct contact.

Sapphire

This POKEMON exudes a weak electrical charge from all over its body that makes it take on a slight glow in darkness. RAICHU searches for electricity by planting its tail in the ground. Pokémon Characterstic: Static. There's a 30% chance that your opponent will be paralyzed after attacking Raichu through direct contact.

Emerald

If it stores too much electricity, its behavior turns aggressive. To avoid this, it occasionally discharges excess energy and calms itself down. Pokémon Characteristic: Static. There's a 30% chance that your opponent will be paralyzed after attacking Raichu through direct contact.

FireRed

Its electric charges can reach even 100,000 volts. Careless contact can cause even an Indian elephant to faint. Pokémon Characteristic: Static. There's a 30% chance that your opponent will be paralyzed after attacking Raichu through direct contact.

LeafGreen

Its long tail serves as a ground to protect itself from its own high voltage power. Pokémon Characteristic: Static. There's a 30% chance that your opponent will be paralyzed after attacking Raichu through direct contact.

Pokémon Stadium

Its electrical attacks my reach 10,000 volts.  It discharges electricity from its tail, so it is not harmed by its own power.

Pokémon Stadium 2

(see Gold entry)

Animé

It can shock with more than 100,000 volts; enough to render a Dragonite unconscious.

Since Raichu can't learn any attacks by its own when evolved from a Pikachu, you'll have to teach it the moves you
want it to have before evolving it.  Of course... TMs and HMs still work:

Anime Appearances

Raichu also appears in the animé, like any other Pokémon should sooner or later.  Sometimes its there for the whole
episode, and others just for a small cameo:

#09 - The School of Hard Knocks - (You can barely make out Raichu on Brock's tea set. Pathetic, I know...)

#014 - Electric Shock Showdown - (Lt. Surge battles Ash's Pikachu with his huge and powerful Raichu. Raichu at first easily defeats Pikachu with very powerful Thunderbolt,
Mega Punch, and Mega Kick attacks. However, Pikachu returns with a strategy to defeat Raichu using speed, and succeeds. You know, after all these years, I still don't understand
how standing on its tail would let Pikachu dodge Raichu's Thunderbolt. It's not the fact that Pikachu won that bothers me,
it's the fact that I still don't know how that worked...)

#028 - Pokémon Fashion Flash (Raichu has a only a short appearance here, being "dressed up" by Team Rocket
in their salon along with Dodrio. It isn't too happy about the way it looks when it sees what Jessie and James did to it...)

#069 (JP) / #068 (ENG) - Lights, Camera, Quack-tion - (Raichu belongs to the Trainer of the Day, Katrina. In the episode, it is accidentally
caught by Team Rocket in a net when they mistake it for Pikachu, but it easily defeats them with electricity. Then, auditions for a part in a Pokémon movie as co-star
to a Wigglytuff by dancing with Ash's Pikachu. After Misty's Psyduck gets the role, Raichu and Pikachu help the movie by creating lightning
for the scenery, as well as directing other Pokémon in a free-for-all battle against each other and Team Rocket)

#90 (JP) / #089 (ENG) - Stage Fight - (Raichu is having stage fright problems, along with problems with its trainer, Kay. Raichu overcomes its fear and becomes
friendly with its trainer again. Before the episode is done, Raichu is a confident performer and an impressive weilder of a Mega Punch attack, which it used to send
Team Rocket flying out of the Pokémon showboat it calls home)

#139 (JP) / #138 (ENG) - Mild 'n Wooly - (Raichu belongs to Mary's Mother, who keeps Mareep. It helps its trainer by using electricity
to herd the Mareep, and near the end of the episode it uses all its strength to break Team Rocket's electricity-absorbing panel on their balloon with Thunderbolt!)

#244 (JP) / #242 (ENG) - As Clear as Crystal - (Raichu can be seen in the background amongst all the other electric Pokémon throughout the episode)

#287 (JP) / #285 (ENG) - A Bite to Remember - (Raichu makes a teensy cameo as a drawing when Brock is teaching everyone about the different types of Pokémon evolution)

#367 (JP) / #385 (ENG) - Lessons in Lilycove - (In another very small role, Raichu can be seen in a still shot being lifted by Kelly's Grumpig's Psychic attack)

First Pokemon Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back - (Raichu is a major character in the movie's short, Pikachu's Summer Vacation, as Pikachu's rival.
Pikachu and Raichu have a huge race through the Pokémon Park, barging through innocent Pokémon and destroying everything
in their path. But, of course, all the Pokémon become friends when Raichu
and its gang of friends decide to help Charizard get his head out of a piece of playground equipment)

Second Pokemon Movie: Revelation Lugia (JP) / The Power of One (ENG) - (I don't know if anyone would care to look, but you can sort of make out tiny
Raichu in those shots where there are hundreds of worried Pokémon on the screen at once)

Raikou: The Legend of Thunder - (Raichu is one of the electirc Pokémon attracted by the crystal near the beginning of the short. When it sees other Pokémon
being taken by Team Rocket, it fires an electric attack, but the attack is turned back against it and the other Pokémon.
It is then picked up by Team Rocket's mecha until Raikou comes and saves it)
